A 37-year old man was sentenced to 31 years in prison for vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for crashing into a vehicle stopped at a red light and killing the 18-year old girl in the passenger seat – he fled the scene, but was arrested about 10 hours later.

The impact of the crash pushed the vehicle into a major intersection – causing a chain-reaction crash with several vehicles.

The intoxicated man has two drunken-driving convictions and an alcohol-related reckless-driving conviction.  He pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence while intoxicated and admitted several penalty-enhancing allegations for causing bodily injury to several victims.  In addition, it was found that he has a prior felony strike conviction for a previous robbery and three prior convictions for driving under the influence in California and in Washington State.

If you are facing criminal charges for drunk driving, you will need an experienced Riverside Criminal Law attorney – one that knows the law and will fight for your rights.

A 38-year old Riverside woman was sentenced to three years in prison for the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist in Newport Beach.  She was driving under the influence of prescription drugs at the time and pleaded guilty to hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The woman was under the influence of methadone and clonazepam when her SUV drifted out of the lane she was in and struck a 49-year old man as he and two friends were riding their bikes.  The woman did not stop and fled the scene – dragging the man’s bike for more than a mile before stopping.

The man died the next day after suffering severe head and neck injuries.

California law requires all drivers to stop when an accident takes place.  I hope the family of this man contacts an experienced Riverside County Criminal Law attorney, one who is familiar with hit-and-run driving cases.

A 45-year old man, ended the lives of an elderly couple (from Yucaipa) last year in Palm Springs by crashing into their car.  The couple died from injuries sustained when the crash took place.  The man was booked into the Banning Jail on charges stemming from the accident.

Last week, the man was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter.  It is said that the elderly couple were in Palm Springs to watch a cap to a nuclear reactor roll through the valley on a semi-truck.

I feel so sad for the family of the elderly couple.

In a recent Orange County Newspaper article, a Riverside woman was charged with a hit-and-run death of a bicyclist in Newport Beach.  The District Attorney’s office said the woman was under the influence of prescription drugs (Methadone and Clonazepam) when her SUV hit a bicyclist in Newport Beach in December.

After she hit the man, who was driving near the curb, she fled the scene – dragging his bike under her vehicle for more than a mile.  The man died a day later from severe head and neck injuries.

The woman is charged with one felony count of hit and run with death, one felony count of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence, and one misdemeanor count of driving without a valid license with a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury.

Once again, I urge you not to drink and drive or while taking medication.  This woman needs the help of an experienced Criminal Attorney.
