Statistics show that teenage drivers have the highest rate of traffic convictions. Half of these drivers are arrested for some type of traffic violation in their first year of driving – the most common is speeding. Violations of laws increase the possibility of an accident happening, and worse - death. Teenagers have twice as many accidents as adult drivers. Reports indicate that this is due to lack of driving experience and the need to be the best.
If you receive a traffic ticket, there will be consequences. If you fail to pay your fine or appear at a court hearing, the DMV will suspend your driving privilege until you do so. If it is determined that you are at fault in an accident, you will receive a warning letter for the first time. A second “at fault” accident within a year - you will not be able to drive for 30 days unless a licensed adult is with you. If you are “at fault” a third time within a year - your license will be suspended for six months and you will be placed on probation for one year. A conviction for driving under the influence will cost you your license for one year.
More severe consequences are given depending on your record. You are not allowed to drive in California if your license has been suspended or revoked. If you are convicted of a traffic violation or “at fault” in an accident, it is wise if you contact a skilled Criminal Law Attorney who is experienced in traffic violations.

Palm Springs is a fun place for young and old to visit. Palm Springs police officers will ticket you for the following violations: 1) Speeding or driving through a red light will charge you with an infraction. The police officer will issue a Notice to Appear ticket. If you do not show proof of automobile insurance, you will be charged with an infraction for driving without proof of insurance. 2) You do not have to appear in court for a parking ticket. The ticket will show the amount you are responsible to pay. If you do not think you should have been ticketed, contact the parking agency listed on the ticket. Waiting to pay the ticket will only increase the fine (check ticket for details). Non-payment will not allow you to renew your car’s registration. Finally, if stopped and you do not have your license, you will receive a ticket. If a police officer thinks you are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you will be taken into custody immediately.

In order for a police radar gun to be accurate, the officer must be properly trained. The road must be flat and straight with good visibility and minimal traffic. Recently, the National Bureau of Standards tested several radar guns and determined that all produced some false signals.
Radar errors are produced because of many factors, which include Panning. Panning occurs when the hand-held gun is swept across the dashboard of the vehicle. Any mechanical interference in the area of the road can throw off the readings. There are many factors involved.
Another factor that can effect the readings on a radar gun is high frequency interference. It is a fact that if someone were to whistle into their CB while operating a speed radar gun, it can create a high frequency sound which can then alter the speed that shows up on the radar gun.
Armed with this knowledge, I would hope that if anyone is stopped for speeding in Palm Springs or anywhere else in the Coachella Valley through the use of a radar gun, they will consider contacting an experienced traffic ticket attorney to investigate their situation.
