Thousand Palms was the scene of a chemical spill recently which left two individuals with injuries, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. A residential pool cleaning vehicle crashed early the other morning, spilling about 35 gallons of chemicals on the road.
The California Highway Patrol closed all lanes of Varner Road for several hours so a hazmat team could clean up the spill. The accident is under investigation.
