An individual in a wheelchair crossing at a Palm Springs intersection was hit by a vehicle the other day. It is unclear if the person was using the crosswalk at the time of the accident.
Police responded to the scene, but no one had to be taken to the hospital. The only damage was sustained to the wheelchair.
California law states that motorists are required to yield to pedestrians to allow them to cross a street safely.
The accident is under investigation to determine why this happened. If you are injured by a motor vehicle while crossing the street, contact an experienced Riverside Personal Injury attorney who will look into the facts of your case to determine if you are entitled to compensation for your injuries and medical expenses.

Palm Springs is a popular place for people of all ages to party – resulting in a problem with drunk drivers.
Statistics show that Palm Springs with a population of approximately 50,000 people has had more alcohol-related accidents in a given year than any other city in California of its size.
Unfortunately, it has been labeled as the worst city for drunk driving eight times out of the last nine years.
With over 200 restaurants and bars in this small city, people have an open invitation to have a drink or two and get behind the wheel and drive while impaired. These actions result in a high number of DUI accidents.
Police officers are cracking down on drunk drivers by setting up more and more DUI checkpoints throughout the city and surrounding areas. If you are arrested for drunk driving, you may be facing serious consequences including the loss of your driver’s license. Contact an experienced Riverside Criminal Law attorney who will get the best outcome for your case.

The Palm Springs community is a big tourist town – not to mention all the college students that hang out there on the weekends and during school breaks.
On most Friday and Saturday nights the sidewalks are filled with people from all walks of life – many with a quest to quench their thirst. Palm Springs has approximately 200 bars and restaurants that serve alcohol. That’s more than most of the surrounding cities combined.
Unfortunately, all this drinking turns into bad news for some – drunk in public, drinking and driving, accidents and death. Statistics show that cities with a population of less than 50,000 people, Palm Springs has ranked #1 for the highest number of DUI crashes since 2000. Residents have complained that the number of liquor licenses has contributed to alcohol-related crashes and crime. The city has spent more than any other city on DUI enforcement - $800,000 over the past ten year.
If you have had too much to drink, please find a designated driver – do not get behind the wheel. If, on the other hand, you think you’re okay to drive and get into an accident and injure someone, I advise you to contact an experienced Riverside Criminal Law attorney who will listen to your story and protect your rights.

Many tourists come to Palm Springs to have a good time – to party. In most cases, partying includes alcohol and/or drugs.
Did you know that out of 100 California cities, similar in size, Palm Springs had the most alcohol related accidents in a given year, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety? The number stated in their report represents more than 30% of 195 people killed or injured across the Coachella Valley. It has been number 1 for alcohol-related accidents since 2000.
Palm Springs has over 200 bars and restaurants serving alcohol – more than any other city in the Coachella Valley. Customers can get into a lot of trouble on a given evening. Palm Springs City Manager is working to find a balance between the entertainment area and the alcohol-related injuries in the city – police are doing more enforcement work in bars by checking alcohol licenses.
Palms Springs is the only Coachella Valley city with an officer assigned to DUI work. They will continue to enforce no drinking and driving by setting up checkpoints from time to time.
If you are involved in an accident with a driver who is drunk, either from alcohol or drugs, contact an experienced Riverside County Criminal Law attorney who will determine if you are entitled to compensation for your injuries and expenses.

Anyone at the intersection of Alejo Road and Sunrise Way in Palm Springs the other afternoon was probably delayed by the four-vehicle accident that took placed.
Four vehicles were involved in an accident; three had to be towed away. A 29-year old woman was transported to a nearby hospital complaining of leg pain; there were no other injuries reported.
Intersections are one of the most dangerous spots on California roads. Statistics show that at least one-third of vehicle accidents and 40% of all fatalities happen at an intersection. The most common ‘right-of-way’ rule is that a person turning left should yield the right-of-way to a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.
Local police are investigating to determine the cause of this accident.
If you are involved in an accident at an intersection, contact a Riverside County Personal Injury attorney with a high level of expertise in California rules of the road – an attorney who will stand up for you and get you compensation for your injuries and damages.

The Palm Springs Police Department reported that an accident that occurred at an intersection around 4:00 in the afternoon injured five people, including two small children.
One of the vehicles, driven by a man from Germany, was making a left-hand turn; the other vehicle, driven by a woman, was coming towards him when they collided at the intersection. After the impact, the woman hit a block wall of a nearby home and then overturned.
The woman and children were taken to a local hospital; she and the two children had moderate injuries. The man and his female passenger sustained critical injuries; they were taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the accident; they believe the woman may have been driving drunk; she was arrested for driving under the influence.
I suggest the two individuals from Germany contact an experienced Riverside County Personal Injury attorney, one who has handled cases involving drunk drivers to see if they are entitled to compensation for their injuries and medical expenses.

A 32-year old man who lost control of his minivan on Interstate 10 in Palm Springs, not only broke his leg, but the accident caused a 2-year old boy’s arm to break, a 5-year old girl’s leg to break, and a 6-year old boy and 35-year old woman to suffer head injuries.
The California Highway Patrol arrested him for drug intoxication combined with a treat separation on the left-rear tire, and negligence. Because of his broken leg, he was taken to a local hospital and not jail. The tire problem caused him to lose control; however, toxicology reports will determine the extent of his DUI charges.
Until the reports are issued, he will most probably face felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and felony child endangerment charges. I would suggest he contact an experienced and knowledgeable Riverside County Criminal Law attorney as soon as possible because these charges should not be taken lightly.

A pickup truck traveling east on Interstate 10 near Indian Avenue in Palm Springs crashed into the center divider the other morning. A 16-month old child was thrown out of the truck, according to California Highway Patrol and killed. Unfortunately, the safety seat that the child was riding in was not belted to the car seat.
The freeway was backed up due to closed lanes for about an hour. This is so sad. The child was in a safety seat but the seat was not properly secured. My sincere sympathies go out to the parents on this young child.

A 45-year old man, ended the lives of an elderly couple (from Yucaipa) last year in Palm Springs by crashing into their car. The couple died from injuries sustained when the crash took place. The man was booked into the Banning Jail on charges stemming from the accident.
Last week, the man was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter. It is said that the elderly couple were in Palm Springs to watch a cap to a nuclear reactor roll through the valley on a semi-truck.
I feel so sad for the family of the elderly couple.
