The year did not start off well for a family driving on Interstate 15 near the 60 Freeway in Riverside County.  According to the CHP, a 53-year old man in a Ford pickup truck, traveling between 55 and 60 mph, did not notice that traffic ahead of him was slowing down. He crashed into the back of the Toyota in front of him.  The impact set off a chain reaction causing cars to crash into each other.

An 11-year old boy was sitting in the back of the first Toyota to get hit.  His sister was sitting beside him.  The boy suffered major injuries and was taken to Loma Linda Hospital where he died.  His sister, who also suffered major injuries, was taken there.  The 30-year old mother suffered major injuries and was taken to another hospital.

No arrests were made; however, the CHP is investigating the crash.  I would suggest that the victims contact an experienced Riverside County Personal Injury attorney to determine if they can be compensated for their loss and for their damages.

A hit-and-run driver who allegedly caused a multi-vehicle crash in Murrieta that killed three people has not been found.  A small group recently gathered to mourn the loss of a young girl and her uncle who were among the victims killed.  The girl was due to graduate from 5th grade in June.

Police are looking for a man reported to have been driving erratically in the area.  The mother of this young girl is hoping the driver will come forward.  Police are looking for a black Honda or Acura with tinted windows and spinner wheels driven by a white male about 20-25 with short dark hair, clean-shaven and a tattoo on his left forearm.  The description was given to the police by an eyewitness.

The police are asking for anyone with information to step forward and call 951-769-2000.

How sad for the family of these victims.
