A 32-year old man who lost control of his minivan on Interstate 10 in Palm Springs, not only broke his leg, but the accident caused a 2-year old boy’s arm to break, a 5-year old girl’s leg to break, and a 6-year old boy and 35-year old woman to suffer head injuries.
The California Highway Patrol arrested him for drug intoxication combined with a treat separation on the left-rear tire, and negligence. Because of his broken leg, he was taken to a local hospital and not jail. The tire problem caused him to lose control; however, toxicology reports will determine the extent of his DUI charges.
Until the reports are issued, he will most probably face felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and felony child endangerment charges. I would suggest he contact an experienced and knowledgeable Riverside County Criminal Law attorney as soon as possible because these charges should not be taken lightly.

A pickup truck traveling east on Interstate 10 near Indian Avenue in Palm Springs crashed into the center divider the other morning. A 16-month old child was thrown out of the truck, according to California Highway Patrol and killed. Unfortunately, the safety seat that the child was riding in was not belted to the car seat.
The freeway was backed up due to closed lanes for about an hour. This is so sad. The child was in a safety seat but the seat was not properly secured. My sincere sympathies go out to the parents on this young child.

On the night of July 11, 49-year old man was riding his motorcycle on Interstate 10 near Highland Springs Avenue when traffic came to an abrupt stop. The man’s motorcycle skidded and swerved as he tried to stop, but he lost control and crashed – throwing him onto the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet that covered his face.
Banning police are investigating this accident to determine what caused the man to lose control of his motorcycle. A number of factors are being investigated, which include a mechanical malfunction, something in the road and drugs or alcohol.
Statistics from 2008 indicate that 32 people died and about 600 people were injured from motorcycle accidents in Riverside County. My condolences go out to the family of the man for their tragic loss. I would advise them to contact an experienced Personal Injury attorney so he or she can investigate the accident and advise them of their legal rights and how to proceed.

Motorists on Interstate 10 near Desert Center found themselves stuck in traffic on Saturday morning. A vehicle traveling east suddenly crossed into the westbound lanes and crashed into a car head-on.
Four people sustained injuries – 3 were airlifted to local hospitals while the fourth was taken by ambulance.
The accident is under investigation to determine what caused the eastbound driver to lose control of the vehicle. No arrests have been made at this time.
I urge the four victims to contact an experienced Personal Injury Attorney so they can be compensated for their injuries and expenses.

For those of you stuck in late afternoon traffic between Laurel Avenue and 11th Street the other day and not knowing why, let me tell you. Two people riding a motorcycle on Interstate 10 in Beaumont were injured because of debris in the road. The debris fell from a trailer.
The two individuals were taken to a local hospital where their condition is unknown. I hope they consult an experienced Personal Injury attorney who will investigate, find the trailer that lost the debris and make sure these individuals get compensated for their medical expenses.
