A 74-year old man was killed the other morning in Perris by a 22-year old woman who is suspected of drunk driving.
Reports indicate that the woman was traveling at 60mph when she lost control of her vehicle and swerved into opposing lanes of traffic, hitting the man head on. The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman sustained major injuries.
She is facing felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges. According to California Vehicle Code Section 23152(a), “Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is illegal.”

The Press Enterprise recently reported that a Hemet police officer, age 30, was involved in a hit-and-run accident where he suffered severe injuries. Officers believe the accident was caused by a female drunk driver in a Honda Accord. Witnesses said that the other driver ran a red light, causing the police officer and himself to crash into a third vehicle already at the light.
After the collision, the female fled on foot, leaving the officer trapped inside the police car. He was later taken to a nearby hospital where he was in serious condition. The 32-year old woman, was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injuries. She violated several California laws by driving under the influence, driving through a red light and then leaving the scene of an accident.
I hope the officer recovers soon. I urge him to consult with an experienced Personal Injury Attorney to make sure his rights are protected.
