Today, consumers are making more and more purchases on the Internet; their personal information has also become more vulnerable. Incidents of identity theft have become more common.  Identity theft happens when someone fraudulently uses your personal information, such as a credit card or your social security number for financial gain or criminal purposes.

In most cases, the victim doesn’t find out that this has happened until he or she receives their credit card statement showing unauthorized charges.  It gets worse – the victim could be denied a loan or lose out on a job opportunity because of negative information on their credit report.  Finally, there is always the chance they can be arrested for a crime they did not commit.

Identity theft is treated as a serious charge and can have severe consequences.  If you are being investigated for or have been charged with identity theft, contact a qualified Riverside Criminal Law attorney who will discuss the criminal penalties you face following your arrest and will fight to protect your rights throughout the course of your white collar criminal case.

Fans in Riverside County gathered around televisions yesterday to watch the Superbowl.  Close by were friends, food and alcohol. Some watched at home or a friend’s home, while others watched at the local bar.

Superbowl Sunday is supposed to be an exciting day for football fans, but unfortunately there are a high number of arrests made for drunk driving that day.  It is okay to have a drink with your friends, but if you must, let someone who is not drinking drive you home.

California Vehicle Code Section 23152 (a) states, “It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle.”

If you have been arrested on a DUI charge in Riverside County, you are probably concerned about the criminal consequences your case might have on your life.  Contact a Riverside Criminal Law attorney who has handled and been successful in DUI cases – an attorney who will work hard for you every step of the way to deliver the best results in your case.

A revocable living trust has basically the same purpose as a Will.  It is an estate planning tool designed to avoid probate while providing long-term property management.  You can terminate, edit or update it at any time.

Unlike a Will, once property is transferred into the trust, it does not go through probate.  After your death, your trustee transfers ownership to your beneficiaries.  The process happens quickly and there are no court fees involved.  Once the beneficiaries receive their property, the living trust ceases to exist.

Estate planning should be taken very seriously.  It is vital to your family’s long-term financial health.  If you are thinking about preparing an estate plan for the future, contact an experienced Riverside Estate Planning attorney who will sit down and discuss what is right for you and your family.

The police are asking all drivers in the Coachella Valley to stay at home or find alternate routes until severe, hurricane-strength winds subside.  The winds are causing significant damage across the valley.

Residents are without power - the local airport saw 66 mph wind gusts.  Reports indicate that large dust clouds and blowing sand are causing low visibility on the roads.  Uprooted trees and downed power lines forced many road closures.

The windstorm is believed to have been responsible for a two-vehicle accident involving an automobile and a bus on Interstate 10 near Palm Springs.  One individual had to be cut out of a severely damaged vehicle, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Two adults and two children were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries.

If you are involved in an accident that occurred due to severe road conditions or the negligence of another person, contact an experienced Riverside Personal Injury attorney who will investigate your case and make sure you receive the compensation you deserve.

As Internet use has increased, so has there been an increase in Internet crimes.  It wasn’t that long ago when words, such as cybersex and cyber-chats were unheard of.  Today, those words are all too common.  Computer crimes have become one of the greatest challenges that face law enforcement.

Prosecutors are constantly confronting all types of computer crimes, including child pornography, sex crimes, cyber-stalking, computer fraud, and Internet theft.  Statistics show that approximately 10% of all Internet and computer crimes in the United States are committed in California.  They have even created special cyber-crime units to decrease computer crime in Southern California.

Conviction of Internet crimes comes with severe consequences, such as State, local or Federal prison, heavy fines, and loss of employment for those with security clearances, restitution and probation.

If you are arrested for an Internet crime of any type, contact a Riverside Criminal Law attorney who has experience in Internet crime cases and will work to negotiate reduced charges, if this is in your best interests.
