Being an underage driver and having alcohol in your system can amount to a devastating situation.  The “zero-tolerance” statute applying to drivers under the age of 21 is more stringent than laws applying to older drivers.

As a reminder, California law prohibits anyone under the age of 21 with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.05% or more to drive a vehicle.  Any violation of this law may lead to a minor DUI charge.

Juveniles who are charged and convicted of a DUI face severe consequences, which include suspension of your driver’s license from a few months to a year or more.

If you are a minor and you are stopped and arrested for a DUI, it is important that you contact a qualified Riverside Criminal Law attorney who has been successful in defending drunk-driving cases – one who will make a difference in the outcome of your DUI charge.

Law enforcement is out in abundance throughout the Coachella Valley because gang-related crimes are a high priority for them.  It is a serious crime.

A conviction in a gang-related crime, no matter how old or young your child is, can be counted as a strike under California’s three-strikes law - that results in a felony charge, such as theft, carrying a weapon, arson, drug use or assault.

If your child is arrested because he or she was involved in a gang-related crime, it would be wise for you to contact a Riverside Criminal Law attorney who has experience in gang-related crimes and will fight for the best possible outcome while protecting your child’s rights.

He was booked into a local jail for investigation of driving under the influence. His bail was set at $2,500.

The Palm Springs community is a big tourist town – not to mention all the college students that hang out there on the weekends and during school breaks.

On most Friday and Saturday nights the sidewalks are filled with people from all walks of life – many with a quest to quench their thirst.   Palm Springs has approximately 200 bars and restaurants that serve alcohol.  That’s more than most of the surrounding cities combined.

Unfortunately, all this drinking turns into bad news for some – drunk in public, drinking and driving, accidents and death.  Statistics show that cities with a population of less than 50,000 people, Palm Springs has ranked #1 for the highest number of DUI crashes since 2000.  Residents have complained that the number of liquor licenses has contributed to alcohol-related crashes and crime.  The city has spent more than any other city on DUI enforcement - $800,000 over the past ten year.

If you have had too much to drink, please find a designated driver – do not get behind the wheel.  If, on the other hand, you think you’re okay to drive and get into an accident and injure someone, I advise you to contact an experienced Riverside Criminal Law attorney who will listen to your story and protect your rights.
