A 25-year old motorcyclist from Corona riding at 60 mph and legally passing slower moving vehicles died on Highway 79 over the weekend.

A police officer stated that as the motorcyclist attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle, he apparently did not see a big-rig stake bed truck making a left-hand turn and crashed into the back of it.  After the impact, the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police are investigating this fatal accident to determine who was at fault.

If you or a loved one has been involved in a motorcycle accident, contact a Riverside County Personal Injury attorney who has the experience and skill to handle a case involving a big-rig.

Speeding in the desert communities of California can prove to be an expensive occurrence.  A speeding ticket is recorded on the driver’s record using a ‘points’ system.  The amount of points depends on the severity of the violation and too many points on your record can hurt you when applying for a job or automobile insurance.

California Vehicle Code 22349 states, “No person may drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than 65 miles per hour”.

If you are stopped and given a speeding ticket, contact a Riverside County Criminal Law attorney who has proven successful in fighting traffic tickets and can help get your  penalties reduced or you keep your driver’s license from being revoked.

A 70-year old man riding a bicycle against the flow of traffic in Cathedral City was hit by a minivan and then dragged under it for a distance the other morning.  Police removed the man from under the minivan when they arrived.  Witnesses told police that the minivan may have run a stop sign.

The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital in Palm Springs where it was determined he sustained a head injury, cuts to his arm, knees, shoulders and head – along with other bruises and bumps.  Because of his age, his injuries were considered serious.  No one else was injured.

The police impounded the minivan and cited the driver for suspicion of driving without a license.  The accident is under investigation at this time.  It would be wise for the bicyclist to seek the advice of an experienced Personal Injury attorney to determine if he can be compensated for his medical expenses.

An 11-year old boy was riding his bicycle one morning in Hemet when he was hit by a passing vehicle, thrown on the car’s hood and then dragged for about 25 feet.  Witnesses and a nearby work crew removed the boy from under the car.  He sustained burns and cuts.

Officials are investigating to determine what happened – Was the driver speeding or under the influence or just plain negligent? California Highway Patrol reports that records from 2008 indicate there were close to 400 people injured in a bicycle accident in Riverside County.

According to California Vehicle Code Section 21800(a) drivers of automobiles and required to yield to pedestrians and bicyclists who have entered an intersection of crosswalk.  If the driver is found to be at fault, he or she may be held liable for medical expenses and any other expenses involved.  I would advise the family of this little boy to seek the expertise of a Personal Injury attorney to investigate for them.  I hope the little boy has a speedy recovery.
