The police are asking all drivers in the Coachella Valley to stay at home or find alternate routes until severe, hurricane-strength winds subside. The winds are causing significant damage across the valley.
Residents are without power - the local airport saw 66 mph wind gusts. Reports indicate that large dust clouds and blowing sand are causing low visibility on the roads. Uprooted trees and downed power lines forced many road closures.
The windstorm is believed to have been responsible for a two-vehicle accident involving an automobile and a bus on Interstate 10 near Palm Springs. One individual had to be cut out of a severely damaged vehicle, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Two adults and two children were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries.
If you are involved in an accident that occurred due to severe road conditions or the negligence of another person, contact an experienced Riverside Personal Injury attorney who will investigate your case and make sure you receive the compensation you deserve.

As Internet use has increased, so has there been an increase in Internet crimes. It wasn’t that long ago when words, such as cybersex and cyber-chats were unheard of. Today, those words are all too common. Computer crimes have become one of the greatest challenges that face law enforcement.
Prosecutors are constantly confronting all types of computer crimes, including child pornography, sex crimes, cyber-stalking, computer fraud, and Internet theft. Statistics show that approximately 10% of all Internet and computer crimes in the United States are committed in California. They have even created special cyber-crime units to decrease computer crime in Southern California.
Conviction of Internet crimes comes with severe consequences, such as State, local or Federal prison, heavy fines, and loss of employment for those with security clearances, restitution and probation.
If you are arrested for an Internet crime of any type, contact a Riverside Criminal Law attorney who has experience in Internet crime cases and will work to negotiate reduced charges, if this is in your best interests.

Over the last twenty years there has been an increase in individuals choosing to draw up a living trust rather than a Will.
Both documents have similar functions. Both documents allow an individual to appoint someone to manage his or her estate after death. In a living trust, the person is known as a ‘Successor Trustee and in a Will, the person is called an “Executor’.
Both documents name your beneficiaries. A Living Trust provides lifetime and after-death management. It will provide for a successor after your death or if you become incapacitated. Court intervention is not necessary. A Living Trust can avoid probate on your assets and prevent your financial affairs from become public record. It must be actively managed once it is created and it is more expensive to set up than a Will.
A Will is a document that must be signed and witnessed. It states where the assets will go upon your death.
If you are in the process of planning your estate and are not sure what is best for you, contact an experienced Riverside Estate Planning attorney who will discuss the pros and cons of each document and help you understand which one best meets the needs of you and your family.

Sobriety checkpoints are temporary roadblocks that are used by Riverside law enforcement to catch drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
There are times when the officers stop every vehicle going through the roadblock or stop just certain vehicles to determine if the driver is impaired. The checkpoints are usually set up late at night or in the early morning hours when most drunk drivers are on the road.
If an officer asks to search your car, you can refuse because technically they do not have legal grounds to do so. You may be asked to leave your car and perform a field sobriety test or take a breath alcohol test. This, too, can be refused, but the consequences are almost as severe as a DUI charge.
If you are arrested for drunk driving, contact an experienced Riverside Criminal Law attorney who will review the evidence against you and fight for your legal options.
