California has strict laws in regard to those who are accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The law states that you are prohibited from operating a motor vehicle if your blood alcohol concentration reaches .08% or higher. When this occurs, your physical and mental coordination are at a level where your chances of causing an accident greatly increase.
A law enforcement officer has the right to pull you over if he or she suspects that you are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The officer will test your BAC level through a field sobriety test, breath test or blood test. If your BAC is .08% or higher, you will be arrested and taken into police custody and charged with DUI.
For a first-time DUI offense, you will most probably be subjected to a fine, probation, community service, driver’s license suspension, mandatory alcohol awareness classes and a mark on your record. The consequences increase with the amount of offenses on your record.
If you have been arrested on charges of driving under the influence in Riverside County or a surrounding area, you need to contact an experienced Riverside Criminal Defense attorney who will provide you with much needed guidance and help you fight your charges.

Recently a man reported that he was attacked and bitten by a police dog when he showed up in the middle of a police investigation accidently. He was hospitalized for a week. However, different stories are being told by the man and by the police.
The man said that he never saw the dog coming until the attack started while police officers are reporting that the man received warning about the dog, but he choose to ignore the officer’s warning for him to stop.
The accident is under investigation. Apparently the victim was just in the wrong place and the wrong time. In California, dog owners are responsible for injuries caused by their pets; however, police departments are given immunity under the law when it comes to police dogs.
According to California Civil Code Section 3342(b), “Legal action may not be brought against any government agency using a dog in military or police work if the bite occurred when the dog was defending itself or if it was helping an officer apprehend or hold a suspect, investigate a possible crime, or execute a warrant.” In addition, Section 3342(c) states, “The agency will cease to have immunity in cases where the dog bite victim was not a participant or a suspect in a criminal incident.” The victim was not a suspect.
The investigation has not stated whether the officers believe the victim was a suspect at the time. It would be wise for the victim to consult with an experienced Riverside Personal Injury attorney to discuss his legal options and rights.

A Trust is another type of estate planning tool – other than a Will. It gives you control of how and when your estate is distributed. A carefully planned Trust can provide many benefits for you and your beneficiaries.
A Trust can help you provide for your children until they reach a specific age – at a time when they are mature enough to handle the assets and/or property you provide for them. Without a Trust, your children can inherit your estate at the age of 18. They may not be ready to make significant financial decisions at that age.
Trusts are not meant just for the elderly or the wealthy. Many utilize Trusts to control the access to and distribution of their property and to protect their families. In addition, having a Trust can help avoid probate, which can become expensive and time-consuming.
If you are interested in creating a Trust and have questions regarding one, contact an experienced Riverside Estate Planning attorney who can provide the level of counsel and personalized service that makes a difference in your life today and down the road.
